Born in Vilches (Jaén).

Public policy expert, graduated in Library and Information Science at the Complutense University of Madrid. She obtained a Master’s Degree in Sustainability and Corporative Social Responsibility, as well as a Master’s Degree in Public Leadership at the IE.

Currently, she is the Commissioner for Universities, Youth and Special Plans at the ONCE Foundation. Previously, she was Coordinator for the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI).  

Until 2011, she dedicated herself to public services, covering many different roles within various public institutions. More precisely, until December 2011 she was the General Secretary for Social Policy and Consumer Affairs at the Spanish Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, after covering the position of General Secretary at the Spanish Ministry of Equality. She was also Executive Advisor of the first Vice President of the Spanish Government within Institutional and Social Affairs.

Furthermore, she represented Spain at numerous ministrial meetings and various technical reunions about social policy (United Nations, European Union, Council of Europe, OECD and SEGIB, “the Ibero-American General Secretariat”). She also presided over different institutional organizations on public participation, holding the position of President of General Council of the Spanish National Institute for Older People and Social Services (IMSERSO), Vice President of  the Spanish Red Cross Council for Protection, Vice President of the State Council of the ONG on Social Affairs, Vice President of the State Council of Older people, Vice President of the State Council of Disability, Vice President and Member of the State Council of Pueblo Gitano, etc.

Currently, she is President of the Foundation Help Age Internacional, and a Member of the Foundation Mujeres por África.

In addition, she conducted various summer courses dealing with issues such as equality and social policy, and she participated on numerous international seminars and conferences.
